Golden Tate, the Philadelphia Eagles’ new wide receiver, won’t just be adjusting to a new city. He’ll be wearing a new number as well, but that story pales in comparison to all of the newborns that are being birthed in Philly.

If the Philadelphia Eagles‘ trade for Golden Tate didn’t sink in when it happened, it’s probably sinking in now. On Wednesday, Mr. Tate stood at a podium at the Novacare Complex, and he exuded nothing but professionalism.

Rather than show up in a T-shirt, Tate showed up looking like he was more interested in buying the team. For a little less than 18 minutes, he and the Philly media discussed everything from the uniqueness of his name to his excitement about joining a team he’s paid a lot of attention to, even if he isn’t very familiar with the city they play in.

That’s an easy fix though. Tate spent a lot of his time talking about how he hopes to play for the Eagles for an extended period of time (not just eight games), but that isn’t all. Perhaps one of the understated but soothing moments of the discussion came every time he spoke of the Eagles and used terms like ‘us’ and ‘we’.

While some are expecting that Tate’s transition from a Detroit Lions jersey to an Eagles one should be a smooth one, there will be some adjustments. Fortunately, for Tate and Philly, this move comes prior to a bye week, but he will have to familiarize himself with his new role.

Also, if you’re an Eagles fan and looking for him on the field, you may want to know that you won’t be looking for the number 15. He’ll be wearing the number 19 instead.

He looked good in his first press conference in Philly. He looks pretty good in Eagles’ green too. This should be fun to watch.
