Just because the Philadelphia Eagles aren’t playing this week doesn’t mean that there aren’t some great games to watch in Week 9.

When you think about it, the Philadelphia Eagles couldn’t have had their bye week come at a better time. Philly’s week off comes smack dab in the middle of the season. It comes after a game where they had to leave the country and play a regular season game.

The Eagles sit at 4-4 with eight games to go, and they’ve added one of the prize acquisitions of last week’s trade deadline, wide receiver Golden Tate, to their roster.

The week off gives them some time to rest, refocus and figure some things out, but if you’re an Eagles fan, you’re in luck. There’s a healthy slate of games that you’ll want to check out.

Here are five of those games that Eagles fans will want to watch, and here’s what to watch for when you tune in.

1. Atlanta Falcons at Washington Redskins, 1 PM EST, FedExField

This game is important for two reasons. One, it involves two NFC teams who may be in the playoff conversation later. Second, the Redskins sit alone atop the NFC East.

A loss by those ‘Skins would lessen the gap between Philly and their rivals from our great nation’s capital city.

Eagles fans will obviously be cheering for the Falcons in this one.

2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers, 1 PM EST, Bank of America Stadium

Just like last season, the Panthers, Saints and Falcons should be major players as we approach the playoffs. Just like last season, all three could realistically get in.

The Panthers hold a head-to-head advantage over the Eagles thanks to their victory at Lincoln Financial Field. Philly needs Tampa to hand Carolina their third loss of the season.

3. Los Angeles Rams at New Orleans Saints, 4:25 PM EST, Mercedes-Benz Superdome

This is FOX’s game of the week for obvious reasons. This one features two teams that Philly will see in the regular season. There’s also a possibility that, if ‘The Birds’ reach the playoffs, they could face one, if not both, of these teams there as well.

4. Green Bay Packers at New England Patriots, 8:20 PM EST, Gillette Stadium

If you’re a football fan, you’re watching this because it features both Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady, two of the best quarterbacks of our generation and two of the best quarterbacks of all time.

If you’re an Eagles fan, you’re aware that, if the Packers don’t win the NFC North, they’ll be in the hunt for a Wildcard spot. For that reason alone, this one has some significance.

5. Tennessee Titans at Dallas Cowboys, 8:15 PM EST, AT&T Stadium

From an emotional standpoint, any reason to cheer against the Cowboys is a reason for Eagles fans to tune in to a Dallas game.

If you’re looking at long-term ramifications, it’ll be interesting to see how this Amari Cooper thing works and if the Titans can help Philly out by giving their division rival a loss.
