The Philadelphia Eagles will be thin at cornerback this week as both, Sidney Jones and Jalen Mills may not play.

The Philadelphia Eagles return from the bye week on Sunday to take on their arch-nemesis, Dallas Cowboys for the first time this year. While the Eagles clearly have the more talented team all around, they are still dealing with a significant amount of injuries on both sides of the ball. More notably though on the defense. As both, Jalen Mills and Sidney Jones could miss out on Sunday.

Sidney Jones has been out for a while now. He left the Thursday night game against the New York Giants with a suspected hamstring injury, and we haven’t seen him since. It was a positive that his injury had nothing to do with his Achilles tear from last year, but now that Jones is dealing with hamstring troubles, he continues to be a liability on the injury front.

As far as Mills goes, he ended up getting injured two weeks ago in London when the Eagles took on the Jacksonville Jaguars. He went down with a foot injury that he was able to walk on, but eventually, the trainers had him carted off the sideline and into the locker room. It didn’t seem that serious at first, but it looks like Mills will miss quite some time.

What are the timetables for return?

According to Philadelphia Eagles Insider, Dave Spadaro, there’s a chance that Sidney Jones could play on Sunday. He will take baby steps this week, by testing it out in practice on Friday. If everything goes well, then he will test it again on Sunday, hours before the game. Right now, it sounds like it’s a long shot, but there’s a slight chance Jones can come back.

As far as Mills go, it doesn’t look like he will be back for some time now. He was diagnosed with a foot sprain, and as always, the Eagles won’t put a timeframe on his injury other than saying that he’s ‘week-to-week.’ So, Rasul Douglas will undoubtedly get the start on the outside, while Avonte Maddox will play in the slot if Corey Graham returns this week as well.
