Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery shows off his big heart, and their quarterback, Carson Wentz, gets a nice honor from his teammates. It’s all here in ‘The Roundup’.

What’s been lost in a ton of stories about dropped passes, disappearing acts in big games and 41-point losses is the fact that, if the Philadelphia Eagles can pull it all together, they have a great core of players that can lead them into a very successful future. Look no further than star wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and their star quarterback, Carson Wentz.

After a relatively impressive start to his 2018 season, one that began almost a month after it started for the rest of his teammates, Jeffery’s cooled quite a bit. He’s hauled in 12 receptions over the last three games, but rather than wallow in misery, Jeffery’s decided to do what great guys do.

He’s put on that award-worthy smile and decided to make life better for others. This holiday season, he’ll be handing out 400 Thanksgiving meals to families around Southwestern Philadelphia

Let’s be honest. Is there much that needs to be said after that?

Carson Wentz gets some love.

You know the story of the 2017 Eagles very well by now. No matter how you spin it, you can’t tell the tale without one major detail.

Their starting quarterback was in his second season and an MVP candidate. Then, on one Sunday in Los Angeles, it all came crashing down for ‘QB1’.

One title run and one intense rehabilitation later, Wentz is back in the Eagles lineup. One fact that’s been lost on some, thanks to a disappointing season, is the fact that he’s actually playing at a higher level than he was a season ago.

Okay, throw out that three interception performance against the New Orleans Saints in ‘The Big Easy’. You know dude was just trying to make something out of nothing.

For his efforts, his teammates have awarded him by naming him their Ed Block Courage Award Recipient For 2018.

Sure, Philly’s probably not going to make a ton of noise in 2018. Sure, we all expected a little more, but football is a tricky game. Get some guys healthy, bring in a few difference makers and the Eagles are right back in the hunt.

We’re certain that Jeffery and Wentz are a part of this team’s long-term future. Thank goodness for that. This team couldn’t have found two better people with more on-field talent to help lead them.

Ladies and gentlemen, forget some of what you’ve seen in 2018. The best is yet to come.
