Philadelphia Eagles talk: Doug Pederson, those black jerseys, injuries
There’s a lot to discuss as Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson prepares to lead his team into another battle with their division rivals, the New York Giants.
Well, who thought it would be like this? Not too long ago, there was optimism. The Philadelphia Eagles were flying back to the United States with a .500 record, and it appeared their head coach, Doug Pederson, was primed to take his team on a run.
Instead, ‘The Birds’ went on a two-game losing streak after their bye week and after much of the fan base was set on fire after the team had acquired Golden Tate in a trade.
On Friday, shortly before lunchtime on the East Coast, Pederson met with the media. Take a look at this one for yourself:
Philly prepares for a ‘Blackout’.
It’s become customary that the Eagles meet the New York Giants and wear their alternate all-black jerseys. This weekend expect much of the same as the city of Philadelphia prepares for another one of those ‘Blackouts’.
The news came courtesy of the Eagles social media sites, including their official Twitter account:
Eagles fans should all hope for a better showing from their beloved ‘Birds’. The last couple of times they’ve gone all black, they haven’t looked too impressive. There was that debacle on Christmas a season ago versus the Oakland Raiders, a game Philly won but looked terrible in. You all know what happened this season in Philly’s first contest versus the Dallas Cowboys.
Now, let’s talk about some injuries.
One of the biggest headlines leading up to any NFL game will always be who’s playing and who isn’t. Here’s something you may want to jot down in your notebook. The Eagles may have Timmy Jernigan in the lineup when this one kicks off, but it also appears they’ll be without their starting middle linebacker and their top five cornerbacks.
Here’s what looks to be their final injury report heading into the weekend:
If you’re an Eagles fan, you’ll want to cross your fingers as Philly tries to stop Odell Beckham Jr, a man who’s given them fits over the years, and the Giants new playmaker, Saquon Barkley. The latter shredded the Eagles defense for over 200 all-purpose yards the last time these two teams met.
