Getting hot in December: Forecasting Philadelphia Eagles’ last four games
By Alex DeMarzo
There are a few key elements Philadelphia must succeed in order to come away with a win.
The first one’s obvious. The defensive line needs to lock down Ezekiel Elliot by not allowing him to make it to the second line of the defense where he is the most lethal.
Second, Philly must make open field tackles. For the most of this season, the Birds have struggled in this department, and Dallas is a team that will capitalize on these mistakes.
Third, the defense must force Dak Prescott to throw the ball and make correct reads. This season, Prescott has thrown five picks, and he’s fumbled 11 times, five of which were recovered by the opposing team.
Offensively, Philly needs to stick with the ground game with Adams and Sproles. They need to keep feeding tight end Zach Ertz, and they need to stretch the field with Tate and Nelson Agholor.
Expect Philly to be walking into “Jerry World” with a chip on their shoulder. This game should be a fight to the finish, with the Eagles narrowly edging out a victory (try 23-20 on for size if you need a score).
A win over the Cowboys will significantly improve their playoff chances and make Week 15 less strenuous when they head out west to play the Los Angeles Rams.
