You either love ‘em or you hate ‘em, but the passion for the Philadelphia Eagles does not go unnoticed.

Last week, FanSided released their third annual Fandom 250 rankings. This comprehensive list ranks the top 250 fanbases from around the world in areas such as sports, entertainment, celebrities, brands, and much more.

Philadelphia Eagles fans have an unmistakable reputation of being passionate, loyal, and sometimes unruly. It’s that unwavering passion that earned them the 28th spot overall, fifth in the NFL, and the highest ranked NFC East team on FanSided’s Fandom 250.

Philadelphia is undoubtedly a passionate sports city, but the Eagles hold a special place in the hearts of Philly natives and locals.

Supporting the Eagles is almost like a religion. Every Sunday from September to December and hopefully January and February thousands of people flock to Lincoln Financial Field. All while millions more around the world watch on TV with one common goal, to cheer their beloved Eagles to victory.

Loyalty is Everything

Eagles fans are amongst the most loyal fanbases in the league. Even from the extreme lows such as the egregious 2012 season, where ‘The Birds’ finished 4-12, and longtime head coach Andy Reid was fired, to the blissfulness of witnessing Philly hoist the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the 2017 season.

While numerous NFL teams have trouble filling every seat, Eagles fans come out in droves year after year no matter how good or bad the product on the field is.

Since 2006, the Eagles have sold out every home game.

According to ESPN, Philadelphia’s average home attendance by percentage during that period is over 100 percent. Of course, including ‘standing room only’ which adds toward to the maximum capacity.

The Eagles saw peak attendance in 2006 at nearly 105 percent while the lowest during that span was surprisingly last season at an average max capacity of 67,594 which, is often referred to as a sellout.

For many being an Eagles fan is a lifestyle. They eat, drink, and breathe Eagles football. They love showing support by purchasing merchandise by the dozens. Since entering the league, Carson Wentz’s jersey has been one of the top sellers for the NFL. In fact, his jersey was the third most sold jersey on NFL Shop prior to the 2018 season.

It’s that devotion toward this franchise which makes players like former Eagles safety Brian Dawkins want to play for Philadelphia during the entire duration of their career and that much harder when it’s time to part ways.

The Eagles fanbase adores a player who leaves everything they have out on the field and Dawkins was one of those players.

Is the No. 1 Spot on the Horizon?

There is no doubt as the years progress Eagles fans will earn that number one spot in the NFL on Fandom 250 because every year they keep moving up on this list.

During the inaugural year, Eagles fans landed at 149 overall and 51 in the sports category. Last year they were ranked at 124 and 10th in the NFL.

Could Philadelphia land at the number one spot next year? We’ll have to just wait and see, but in the meantime, Eagles fans will continue to support their team to the fullest.

Next. Philadelphia Eagles need to show Mike Groh the door. dark
