Add another one to the list; Philadelphia Eagles rookie left tackle Jordan Mailata is out for the rest of the year.

At this point in the season, the Philadelphia Eagles could nearly form an entire team of players on the Injured Reserve. And we thought last year’s list of injuries was crazy. Earlier in the week, everybody was shocked to find out that not one, but two players (Corey Clement, Josh Sweat) were headed to the Injured Reserve. But don’t forget, the week was still young. Make that three players on the Injured Reserve this week because Jordan Mailata is headed there as well.

The rookie left tackle hasn’t really had any playing time this year outside of the preseason, but he’s clearly still involved in practice. Seeing as though injuries have plagued this team all year long, nothing really comes as a surprise anymore. And at this point, most of the injuries are all the same. Knees, hamstrings, and backs seem to be the common theme. Add Mailata to the back club.

Mailata ruled out for the year

With Mailata being ruled out, it won’t affect the team too much. At this point, it’s just crazy to hear that another player is going to miss the rest of the season due to an injury. And although Mailata probably wasn’t going to get much playing time, it would’ve been nice if the Eagles could throw him in for a few series if the team faces elimination from the playoffs before the season is over. The garbage time could’ve been great for his development moving forward.

Unfortunately, Mailata will not get that opportunity this season. We will have to wait until next preseason now. This past summer, Mailata played the first four football games of his life. Surprisingly, he became an offseason star not only for to the Eagles, but the National media was rallying behind him as well. It will be interesting to see how well Mailata does next year with a full year under his belt, along with another offseason.
