Eagles Center Jason Kelce was named a Top-Ten Pro Bowl snub
We know that there’s a few, but Philadelphia Eagles Center Jason Kelce could be the biggest Pro Bowl snub for 2018.
We do this type of thing every single year. The Pro Bowl selections will never be one-hundred percent accurate ever. Why? Because it’s a popularity contest, first and foremost. The fans vote in who they want. And now with retweets on Twitter counting as votes, it’s easy to get somebody in the Pro Bowl who doesn’t really deserve it for that particular season.
It happens every year, but we can never get used to it. The Philadelphia Eagles always have a few Pro Bowl snubs. Their starting safety Malcolm Jenkins seems to miss to cut every year, despite being one of the hardest working, versatile safeties in the league. Jenkins feels disrespected year after year about it, but at this point, he is used to missing the cut.
However, it’s ridiculous to see that Eagles Center Jason Kelce did not get in this year for two reasons – One being that Kelce is easily one of, if not, the best center’s in the game. You don’t have to like the Eagles, but any logical football fan would understand just how dominant he’s been over the last few seasons, including this year.
And two, Kelce has become wildly popular this year after his Super Bowl speech. So, how did the fans not have his back? Maybe it’s because Kelce’s not on Twitter to force his retweet votes. Who knows? We do know just one thing though, Kelce got snubbed from the Pro Bowl, and it’s not just Eagles fans who believe that. Pro Football Focus had something to say about it as well.
Did Kelce deserve a Pro Bowl nod?
According to Pro Football Focus, Kelce is considered to be a top-ten Pro Bowl snub for 2018. For those who don’t know, PFF has been big fans of Kelce’s for quite some time now. Every accolade that Kelce achieves is well-deserved, according to the data.
"While the rest of the line around Kelce hasn’t been up to their 2017 form, the center is right back at his All-Pro level. He’s the highest-graded center in the NFL once again and has actually been even better in pass protection this season with only nine pressures allowed. Unger, on the other hand, has the second-lowest grade of any Pro Bowler at 64.5 overall."
He truly is one of the better center’s in the league, and it’s crazy to know that he will not pick up his third Pro Bowl nod, yet again. Last season, Kelce missed the Pro Bowl, despite being considered an All-Pro in 2017. This year, it’s the same story. Kelce is an underdog once again. Does he care that much? Probably not. The Eagles are focused on trying to squeeze into the playoffs for one last shot at repeating. As for the fans though, they aren’t happy. Kelce deserved another Pro Bowl selection, and the fact that he didn’t get in proves that the system is flawed.
