Rasul Douglas, CB

Rasul Douglas has been a solid corner this season when called upon, but it wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine for the second-year veteran. Douglas had a rough start to his second year. It took him a while to get on the field full-time, but when he did receive his big opportunity, it seemed like he was going to blow it. Douglas just simply wasn’t that good, which was disappointing.

However, as of late, Douglas has been outstanding. Inconsistent, but at least very good. He may not be a great defender when it comes to pass coverage, but his tackling is superb. And if you can remember, Douglas’ breakout game was against Washington this season when he notched seven tackles. The numbers aren’t all that spectacular, but the film doesn’t lie. He played well.

While Douglas is playing well, he is still having trouble closing the games out. We all know what happened to him in Dallas, which was unfortunate and almost considered to be an accident. But last week, Douglas almost blew it again for the Eagles. He allowed a Houston wideout to burn him deep for the go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Fortunately, the Eagles took care of business and won, but we can’t have another nail-biter like that again this week. Douglas needs to contribute to closing the game out this week. No more comebacks.
