We now know that the Philadelphia Eagles will face the Chicago Bears next Sunday in the Wildcard round of the NFC Playoffs.

This is why the NFL fights so hard for parity. On the final Sunday of the 2018 regular season, most of the games had some sort of playoff significance. Just take the Philadelphia Eagles for instance.

Fans of this great franchise had to wait on the result of both the Eagles’ game and an NFC North contest that you may have heard about just to determine whether or not Philly would be playoff eligible.

When it was all said and done, Philly would earn their second-consecutive playoff berth. The champs will have some sort of say so in whether or not they keep the title of Super Bowl Champions or whether they hand that title to someone else.

Now, once we work out that Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans thing, we know who’s playing on next weekend and when. We got a little help from NBC’s Sunday Night Football on that one.

For the Eagles, debate raged all week about whether or not the Chicago Bears would play their starters or rest them and how much help they’d be in getting ‘The Birds’ into the playoffs.

Philly not only had to take care of business at FedExField. They needed Chicago to take care of business against a team many thought would get to the Super Bowl, last season’s runner up in the NFC, the Minnesota Vikings.

Now, Philly’s one-week love affair with the Bears is over. ‘The Birds’ now travel to Soldier Field to meet a team in a venue where there’s much history.

It’s in Soldier Field that Donovan McNabb had one of his most memorable playoff performances. It’s also in Soldier Field that one of the most bizarre playoff losses in franchise history occurred.

dark. Next. Foles achieves another milestone but may miss out on a bonus

Once upon a time, one of the most talented Eagles teams ever rolled into ‘The Windy City’, a fog set in, and they were robbed of a chance to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.

Let’s hope next Sunday’s game more closely resembles the more recent playoff clash between these two.
