Alshon Jeffery is quite familiar with the city of Chicago, but he doesn’t seem too thrilled to be back this week.

Just two seasons ago, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery was donning a blue jersey with the Chicago Bears. After being drafted to the Bears in 2012, Jeffery only spent the duration of his rookie contract there before testing the free agency market in 2017. As the most prominent name available for the wideout position, Jeffery had to some high demands.

While he had a rich multi-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings on the table, Jeffery opted to sign a one-year contract with the Eagles instead. Clearly, he made the right move as the Birds won the Super Bowl that season. Ironically enough, the Eagles had to defeat the Vikings to get into the dance, which just so happened to be in Minnesota.

This season, the Eagles aren’t the top dogs of the NFC anymore, though. Things are different. The Eagles just squeaked into the playoffs with the sixth seed in the NFC. So every team that they play against from here on out means that the Eagles must travel to their city. The Eagles first opponent happens to be Alshon Jeffery’s former team, the Chicago Bears.

Naturally, the media wants to know how Jeffery feels heading into his return at Soldier Field this weekend. Jeffery, who is brutally honest as always, made it very clear that he doesn’t have any strong feelings towards the Bears in a negative or even positive light. In fact, it seems like Jeffery doesn’t care about Chicago at all really, despite it being his first professional sports city.

Philly has made a bigger impact on Jeffery in one season…

With tons of reporters surrounding his locker, Jeffery was fielding questions about his first trip back to the field that he used to play on for at least eight games a season. When asked about the city of Chicago, Jeffery didn’t have much to say. Typically, a former player who left an organization on good terms would still show a significant amount of love towards their old sports city. As for Jeffery though, he doesn’t seem to care about Chicago, as it was just a place where he worked.

The situation is different for Jeffery in Philly though. Alshon loves Philly. He has embraced the blue-collar mentality of the city and has quickly become a fan favorite as he not only makes ridiculous catches but shows off an attitude and emotion that matches the typical sports fan in the city of Philadelphia. Not to mention, Alshon is also not too fond of the Bears field. He suggested that Solider Field’s grass and field as a whole is ‘terrible.’ So, players should be expected to slip a few times this week as they don’t seem to take care of the turf over there in Chicago.
