According to Twitter data, the Philadelphia Eagles are the most hated NFL team in four different states in the USA.
“No one likes us, we don’t care!” That was the tune of the 2017 Super Bowl run for the fans of the Philadelphia Eagles. For the longest time, the Philadelphia Eagles have had such an underdog reputation. The national media hates them. Other fan bases hate them. Heck, even other players on opposing teams legitimately hate the Eagles. It’s strange that it turned out this way, but in all reality, the Eagles fan base seems to embrace the heel image of the city/team.
Sometimes, it is tough to deal with the endless hate that the Eagles tend to pick up year after year, but at least in 2018 Eagles fans no longer have to hear about the franchise having no Super Bowl rings. So at least there’s that. However, the newfound success in Philly might’ve caused a massive headache for other opposing fans.
As many of you may know, Eagles fans on social media tend to be as rowdy and ruthless on Twitter and Facebook as they are in real life in the parking lots during the tailgates. And far before the Eagles were achieving any significant postseason success, Eagles fans were still loud and proud cheering on their team. Now with a Lombardi trophy in town, some fans might’ve gotten under the skin of their rival fan bases.
Recently, Darren Rovell of The Action Network put together some data based off of Geotags on Twitter that revealed which NFL teams are most hated in each state. For Pennsylvania, you could probably assume who ended up winning that title. Yes, the Dallas Cowboys are the most hated team in the state. It looks like those fans over in Pittsburgh don’t care enough to talk about the Cincinnati Bengals on Twitter as much as Eagles fans discuss their hate for Dallas.
Where are the Eagles hated the most?
It looks like the feeling is mutual between Philly and Dallas. As it turns out, there are four states where the Eagles are mostly hated. The biggest one naturally being Texas, where their NFC East rivals play. By the looks of it, it seems as though the surrounding states that don’t have an NFL team choose to root for the Cowboys. Therefore, they are not too fond of the Eagles as well. So for those fans who are Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Arkansas – this one’s for you!
