Once again, former NFL Head Coach Tony Dungy believes that Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles can make a magical Super Bowl run.
Last season, the Philadelphia Eagles were the most doubted team in the NFL all season long. Every single narrative built around them was the national media trying to make them out to be a much weaker team than their overall record indicated. They played nobody! The Eagles will find out in the playoffs that they aren’t the real deal. Then, once Carson Wentz went down, it was officially time for the national media to dead the number one seeded Eagles.
We all know how all of that went down. Nick Foles and the rest of team delivered and brought the Vince Lombardi trophy back to Philly for the first time. While a majority of the major media killed the Eagles off consistently last year, there were a few guys who stayed true to the Birds. One of those guys happens to be former NFL head coach, Tony Dungy.
Dungy was ready to go to war for Foles
When nobody believed in Nick Foles outside of Philly last season, Tony Dungy tried to tell people that they shouldn’t sleep on No. 9. Sure, Foles had his rough patches throughout his career, but everybody tends to forget the hot streaks that he goes on. And when Foles is heated up, he can go score for score with any quarterback in the league. Just ask Tom Brady.
Once again though, the media isn’t sold on the sixth-seeded Eagles. Everybody has the Chicago Bears winning again this week. But not Tony Dungy, nope. Dungy made it very clear that he believes the Eagles are going to play harder than ever for Nick Foles as every game moving forward could be his final in an Eagles uniform. It won’t be easy, but Dungy sees the Eagles being able to make another magical run to the Super Bowl once again.
The Eagles have what it takes to make another run?
“There’s no doubt in my mind that these guys believe Nick Foles can take them to the Super Bowl again.” There you have it. Dungy was absolutely right last season, now Foles and the Eagles have the opportunity do it this month as well. It’s not going to be easy – this is the playoffs, and the games are a lot tougher and will be very close. The Eagles don’t have the home-field advantage anymore either, but guess what? They have what it takes.
You could argue that the Eagles are the hottest team in the NFL right now as they won the last five of six games. Two of those wins were against playoff caliber teams as well. The Eagles haven’t lost since Nick Foles became the starter again. The wins may not be all because of Foles, but the team apparently has turned up their play a few notches since he became the starter once again. That has to count for something, right? Don’t sleep on the Eagles.
