The topic of whether the Philadelphia Eagles will retain Nick Foles has been discussed amongst sports media and fans for quite some time now, but Vegas is confident he will be ‘donning’ a new jersey come next season.

Las Vegas continues its streak of placing the Philadelphia Eagles in the role of underdog. This time, we’re discussing a personnel move, and this time, they may be correct. On Monday, Bovada, an online betting site, released their odds for Eagles’ Super Bowl LII MVP and backup quarterback Nick Foles to remain in Philly or play for a different team for next season.

You probably already know what they’re opinion was.

Bovada is giving Philadelphia +600 that Foles will be suiting up in midnight green come Week 1 and -1200 he will be ‘donning’ a new jersey for the 2019 campaign.

In layman’s terms for you non-sports bettors, you would have to place $100 on Foles staying in Philly to win $600 or place $1,200 to win $100 if Foles happens to suit up for another squad when Week 1 of the 2019 regular season rolls around.

The Eagles will be faced with a tough decision this offseason.

Whether this season ends with the Eagles as back-to-back champions or with them falling  just short of achieving that goal, Philadelphia’s front office will have to face the sad reality they can only afford to keep Carson Wentz or Foles at quarterback.

Doug Pederson has said numerous times Wentz is their guy for the future, but what Foles has done for this franchise can’t be ignored.

When Wentz went down last season, Foles stepped in to rally the Eagles to their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history.

Now, this season, Wentz went down again with a season-ending back injury prior to the Week 15 matchup and Foles was called on to lead this team back to the promise land.

With ‘Number 9’ under center, the Eagles have rattled off four straight wins including Sunday’s playoff game against the Chicago Bears.

Furthermore, Foles holds a plethora of franchise and NFL records such as completion percentage for a single-game and tossing seven touchdowns in a single-game back in 2013 against the Oakland Raiders.

The scenarios for what Philadelphia can do with Foles.

If the Eagles decided to roll with Wentz as their future QB, there are a few different ways they can part ways with the Super Bowl LII MVP.

Foles is under contract until 2021, however, the contract is structured for a potential opt-out for the 2019 season. That makes him a free agent this offseason.

According to Spotrac, Philadelphia must exercise the 2019 option one week after the Super Bowl. Following the Eagles’ decision, Foles has five days retain this option, but if he declines, he must pay back $2 million of the 2018 bonus.

Additionally, the final two years of his deal are automatically voided if he remains on Philly’s roster 23 days before the 2019 league year. The NFL year starts on March 13th, which also doubles as the first day of free agency.

Another situation where ‘The Birds’ can part ways with Foles is to let him hit free agency but utilize the franchise tag for $25 million and trade him for extra pieces on either offense or defense.

Where could Foles end up next season?

This is a whole other story for a different day, but few teams are in desperate need for a high-caliber starting quarterback and have a lot to offer from a trade perspective.

If the Eagles were to franchise tag and trade Foles, the Jacksonville Jaguars could be a likely option.

All signs are pointing toward Jacksonville parting ways with Blake Bortles and the Eagles can sure use a lockdown cornerback such as Jalen Ramsey. Might that be an option?

Whatever happens with Foles when the offseason rolls around Eagles fans will forever be grateful for what this man has done for this franchise and the great city of Philadelphia.
