Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Mike Wallace and cornerback Sidney Jones are day-to-day heading into the Divisional Round.

The Philadelphia Eagles are getting healthier by the day! Surprisingly, there haven’t been any additional injuries lately that are entirely detrimental to the Eagles current hot streak that they got going on right now (knock on wood). And as a matter of fact, they could get a couple of guys back this week. Of course, we’ll never know for sure since Doug Pederson has taken a liking to keeping things interesting with his updates throughout the season. But we’ll accept his words, for what they are worth.

Last week, the Eagles injury report was extensive in comparison to the Chicago Bears’ list of injuries. Most of the names on it ended up playing though. However, this week the Eagles could get a couple more guys back depending on how practice goes. The team will return to the field on Wednesday, and there are about four guys who have been out, who could really make their return this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.

Who’s looking to get back onto the field.

We’ll start with the obvious injury update surrounding the quarterback, Carson Wentz. We’re expecting Wentz to not suit up at all this week. However, Doug Pederson will not confirm that. During Pederson’s press conference on Wednesday, the Eagles head coach is remaining optimistic about Wentz’s health. He wants Wentz to practice soon, but he’s waiting on the green light from the team doctors. Although it’s already confirmed that Nick Foles is the starter this week, it sounds like Pederson is holding out hope for Wentz to be an active backup this week. We’ll see what happens later on, though.

As for a couple of other guys, the Eagles sound a bit optimistic for Mike Wallace and Sidney Jones. Both Jones and Wallace have missed a significant amount of time this season, and it didn’t seem realistic that either would play anymore. But ever since Wallace returned to the active roster, the Eagles have been trying to get him back into the lineup. They weren’t successful in doing so the last two weeks, but this week they are hoping to ramp up his workload in practice.

Next. Eagles should go back to using Josh Adams against the Saints. dark

As for Jones, he’s pretty much on the same page as Wallace. He will get a heavier workload at practice but will remain questionable for Sunday’s matchup. Seeing as though the Eagles defensive secondary has looked the best it has all year on a consistent basis, it’s hard to imagine that they try to throw Jones back into the mix. If anything, it sounds like Wallace will be the injured player who makes his return this week, and even that’s a longshot right now.
