With the 2018 NFL season officially coming to an end this week, it’s time to start looking ahead. ESPN kicked off the year with way too early predictions about the Philadelphia Eagles win total, as well as the rest of the NFC East.

The 2018 NFL season is almost officially in the books. Either the New England Patriots or the Los Angeles Rams will become the Super Bowl champions, which formally ends the Philadelphia Eagles reign for the year. It was fun while it lasted, and quite frankly, nobody has stopped thinking about 2017 anyway. Seeing as though the Eagles finally won it all, the city of Philadelphia is going to cherish that lone championship for years to come.

However, this past season was proof that Philly fans and the Eagles are far from satisfied with being one and done. Doug Pederson and the rest of the team promised a dynasty. The ‘New Norm’ as he called it last season. The Eagles should have a postseason appearance on a yearly basis. And hopefully, a couple more Super Bowl appearances and wins occur in the next couple of years as well. The Eagles weren’t good enough to get there this year, but hopefully, a healthier unit for next season can make it happen.

The Eagles will look significantly different next season. We’re not sure if that’s a good thing, or a bad thing yet. They could either have a great offseason, where they upgrade at the positions that they take losses to. Or, they could have a rough offseason, and the changes negatively affect them. There’s no way to predict how it will all go. However, ESPN has decided that they could predict a Vegas-style Over-Under of the number of wins that the Philadelphia Eagles get in 2019. So, will the Eagles beat their win total from their slightly down year in 2018?

Vegas Predicts the Eagles & the NFC East win totals:

According to ESPN Staff Writer Bill Barnwell, the Eagles could wrap 2019 up with 9.5 wins. Essentially, they could be within the ballpark of last years total. We all know 2018 was a down year for the Birds, but anything less than ten wins may be considered a disappointment. With Carson Wentz expected to be fully healthy throughout the entire offseason, everybody expects him to get back to his MVP form, which should help the Eagles out tremendously.

As far as the rest of the NFC East division goes, ESPN expects the other three teams to fall below the Eagles. The defending champions of the East, Dallas Cowboys were listed with a total 8.5 wins. The New York Giants are expected to have a better year, but their uncertainty at the quarterback position has them listed with seven overall wins.

The least amount of estimated wins within the NFC East would go to the obvious, the Washington Redskins. While the Redskins weren’t as bad as their final record made them out to be, they aren’t expected to get any better in 2019. With Alex Smith out of the picture for next year, the Redskins are stuck. Their total win prediction from ESPN was a whopping six wins. Seeing how they finished the year off last season, six wins may be generous.
