Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson takes to Twitter to react to Nick Foles’ departure from the team.

We could see it coming from a mile away, but it still feels surreal. After letting the Philadelphia Eagles know that he would buy his $2 million opt out of his 2019 option, the front office had to decide on whether they would be franchise tagging Nick Foles or not. While rumors indicated that they would tag Foles in an attempt to trade him away, the Eagles have confirmed that Foles will be free to test the market on his own and will avoid being traded.

Just like that, Foles’ days with the Eagles are over. We’ve known for a couple of months now that Carson Wentz was given the keys to the kingdom, even when Foles returned for the Eagles late-season run. But regardless of what happened, the Eagles had every intention of holding onto their former first-round pick. Now, Foles will leave Philly for the second, and probably the final time in his career. Naturally, his right tackle Lane Johnson took to Twitter to tell Foles good luck.

Lane Johnson’s Reaction

Johnson has been around with the Eagles for quite some time now. As he was drafted back in 2013, Johnson has played with Foles during both of his stints with the Eagles. Two years in 2013 and 2014, along with the two previous seasons in 2017 and 2018. So if there’s one player who knows Foles well enough to feel quite affected by his departure, it’s Johnson.

The Eagles send out a message

Two simple words from the Eagles organization. “Thank You.” The Eagles were very fortunate to have Foles come in and play the way he did when Carson Wentz went down, and everybody involved with that magical 2017-2018 run will forever be grateful for what Foles has done. Now, he will hopefully get his opportunity to shine elsewhere as he hopes to become the franchise quarterback of his own team. Stay tuned for the free agency madness.
