Philadelphia Eagles rival watch: Giants reportedly ‘very interested’ in Nick Foles
What if we told you, as a Philadelphia Eagles fan, that there was a possibility that we could use the name Nick Foles and the word ‘rival’ in the same sentence?
Those of you who are Philadelphia Eagles fans and a little older will remember this. Do you remember the sick feeling you got in your stomach when you saw Randall Cunningham strap on a Dallas Cowboys jersey and win a Monday Night Football game for them? We, at ITI, may have some very bad news for all of you, and it concerns our beloved Nick Foles.
Here’s fair warning. This one will irritate old fans and a ton of the young ones as well.
According to a report by Tony Pauline, NFL Draft Analyst & Publisher of draftanalyst.com, the New York Giants may have strong interest in bringing Foles in. Take a look:
This could be taken a ton of different ways. One, Foles obviously has a ton of knowledge of the Eagles organization. That could fall under the category of competitive advantage. Second, the NFL would love this. ‘Birds’ fans may not, but the league office would be salivating.
Can you imagine a Sunday Night Football Game between the Eagles and ‘G-Men’ that features Foles and Carson Wentz on opposite sides of the field? Can’t you just see the hype machine beginning to churn?
Can you imagine the build up to two games a year between Foles and Wentz? Can you imagine if Foles actually won? Can you imagine if Foles helped deliver another Super Bowl victory to New York? What if he was able to do that before Wentz won his first?
We’ll stop now. We’re making ourselves sick.
As Eagles fans, hating the Giants comes naturally, but how can you truly muster up enough inside of you to try to feel any ill will towards Foles? It almost sounds crazy. Keep an eye on this one. Nothing’s happened yet, but if this one grows legs, it could add another twist in one of the greatest rivalries in all of football.
