Carson Wentz, Zach Ertz react to Brandon Graham’s extension with the Eagles

Some of Brandon Graham’s teammates couldn’t hold in their excitement as they took to Twitter to react to his return for 2019.

It was going to be a sad day in Philadelphia if the Eagles were to allow Brandon Graham to walk in Free Agency. Before the 2018 NFL season concluded, Graham came to the realization that his career in midnight green may actually come to an end. Although he wanted to stay in Philly, the contract negotiations throughout the year were unsuccessful. That’s when Graham told the media that he would do right by himself and test the market.

It’s not that Graham wanted to leave, but as always, the player felt a bit slighted. Graham has been in the NFL since 2010 and has surprisingly exceeded expectations despite a slow start early on. Although Graham doesn’t consistently have double-digit sack numbers throughout the years like some of the other big named pass rushers in the league, his production lies elsewhere.

Graham’s ability to get pressure is significant for the Eagles defense. Also, he’s one of the more outspoken, and respected leaders within the locker room as he was a captain just a season ago. As expected, a few players rushed to Twitter to show their support for Graham just moments after his new contract was announced. Also, a local media figure got a text reaction from the Eagles pass rusher as well. Let’s just say Graham is happy to be back.

What to expect in 2019?

As Graham returns, we shouldn’t expect to see much of a change up front. With Graham being the only defensive end that was set to leave in Free Agency, the Eagles made sure to lock in their highly-touted veteran for three more seasons. Now, Graham has a goal to make etch his name in Eagles history by making the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame. He will get started on that journey next season!
