Since the Philadelphia Eagles want to hold an open competition for the backup quarterback role, who might they sign through Free Agency?

It’s been two days since the Philadelphia Eagles said they were going to set Nick Foles free, and now we have to start moving on rather quickly. We thought that Nate Sudfeld would automatically win over the job, but apparently the Eagles want to keep him honest. Sudfeld has shown some flashes in the preseason last year, but the Eagles aren’t sold on him being the backup just yet.

We have to remember, the Eagles last backup turned out to be a Super Bowl MVP at one point. Philly may not need Sudfeld to lead the Eagles to the promise land, but they would like to have a quarterback who has proven that he could win a couple of games if he’s called upon. In Sudfeld’s case, he hardly has any game day action outside of two Week 17 matchups.

This year with Foles planning on being elsewhere, the Eagles are on the hunt for another veteran quarterback to come in and compete for a backup role. Hopefully, his services won’t be needed, but Carson Wentz has yet to prove that he can stay healthy all year-long considering what went down the last two seasons. So with that being said, which Free Agent veteran quarterbacks could the Eagles have their eyes on in the next few weeks?
