Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson took a break from team business to honor his mentor, Andy Reid, at the most recent Maxwell Football Club Awards Gala.

The Maxwell Football Club is one of the oldest & most prestigious football clubs in the nation, and they’ve honored excellence at all levels of football since 1935. On Friday, March 8th, they held their 82nd annual awards gala, and Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson was present to honor his friend and mentor, former Eagles head coach Andy Reid.

The current coach of the Kansas City Chiefs received the Greasy Neale Award, an honor that recognizes outstanding work for the pro football coach of the year. Coach Pederson, the winner of this same award last year, served as Reid’s presenter.

Take a look:

That’s not the only reason to celebrate if you’re an Eagles fan. Their tight end Zach Ertz, who just set a single-season record for receptions by a tight end with 116 was honored as well.

He took home Maxwell’s Steinberg DeNicola Humanitarian Award for 2019. Here’s a shot of ’86’ with his wife Julie Johnston Ertz:

Mr. and Mrs. Ertz have been busy with all of the work they do with their Ertz Family Foundation. Here’s their mission statement: Empower others by sharing faith, learning through sports and advancing education to build supportive communities. Their vision is to ‘transform lives through faith, hope and love’.

They operate under three pillars of service. One is youth sports, where they provide ‘opportunities for youth to learn the value of exercise, nutrition, leadership, work ethic, accountability and team work’.

Then there’s education, where they focus on ‘improving the quality of education through supporting teachers, students and schools’, and family, where their focus is ‘restoring hope and building communities for families that need it most’.

Congratulations are in order for Coach Reid and the Ertz family. It’s nice to see Eagles, both present-say and former, doing well in the ventures they have both on the field and off.
