The Philadelphia Eagles want Tevin Coleman in their backfield, but apparently they have a desired price set, which could raise over time.

We all know that the top running back available this year is going to be former Pittsburgh Steelers star, Le’Veon Bell. As the Philadelphia Eagles are on the hunt for a new running back, they are trying to do it with a desired price in mind. Considering that the desired amount is no more than $7 million in salary, that most likely rules out the chances of getting Bell this year.

So who’s the next best option after Bell? Many will say it’s former Atlanta Falcons running back, Tevin Coleman. To no surprise, the Eagles are interested in Coleman’s services. As Coleman comes from another backfield committee, he already has experience in sharing carries, which the Eagles love to do. The only difference is they need a leader for the committee, and it may be Coleman’s time to take over finally.

Last week, the Eagles were linked to Coleman a lot. As he is a solid runner and a pass-catcher, he definitely fits the mold of what the Eagles are in search of. As always though, you have to worry about the other interested teams in the market. And according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Eagles have a desired price for Coleman. And if the cost continues to exceed that set price, they may be out on Coleman.

What are the Eagles expecting to pay the former Falcon?

Apparently, the Eagles don’t want to pay Coleman for over $7 million a season. Obviously, that’s where he gets pretty pricey. Considering that Coleman is rumored to be gaining a ton of interest in the market, there’s a strong possibility that the Eagles could be out of the bidding war as he may get some reasonably good offers from teams with a lot more cap space than Philly.

According to Spotrac, Coleman is predicted to see around $5.3 million in salary, which could be a steal for the Eagles. But as Coleman gets compared to guys like Jerick McKinnon and Carlos Hyde, he could get a bit overpaid. Just last season, McKinnon was in the same position as Coleman, and surprisingly got a contract worth $30 million in total with a salary of $7.5 million.

As the Eagles have their sights set on $7 million, they may be out on the Coleman bidding war fairly early. Thankfully, there are other running backs available who could come cheaper with similar skillsets.

If Coleman gets out of the Eagles range, they may look elsewhere in Free Agency, and keep their eyes on the NFL Draft as they met with tons of running backs this year. Hopefully, this is the last offseason where the Eagles have too many unanswered questions about the backfield.
