NFL Rumors: DeSean Jackson wants out of Tampa, prefers the Eagles as his destination
DeSean Jackson has made it known once again that he wants out of Tampa. Apparently, his desired destination is the Philadelphia Eagles.
That Chip Kelly three-year stint really screwed up the Philadelphia Eagles. While we seem a bit more forgiven nowadays, thanks to a Super Bowl win, it’s still tough to not think about what could have been. Those days with DeSean Jackson catching the deep ball while LeSean McCoy juked defenders out of their cleats were great. Those two offensive weapons were a dynamic duo, and they truly represented Philly with pride at the time. Unfortunately, Chip put a stop to all that.
To this day, it’s still unclear as to why Chip Kelly cut DeSean Jackson for nothing. The rumor was because Jackson had gang ties and some crazy story was going to surface, but it never did. And just like that, Jackson was with the Washington Redskins burning the Eagles secondary twice a year. A couple of years back Jackson became available once again and desired a reunion in Philly. Unfortunately, the financial aspect of his offer apparently didn’t meet Jackson’s standards.
Well, here we go again – DeSean Jackson wants out of his situation with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it sounds like he wants to try to get back to the Eagles for another stint. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard this rumor, and if it doesn’t actually happen, we wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t the last. So, could a reunion actually happen this time around?
DeSean Jackson back in midnight green?
"The Eagles are expected to have mutual interest in Jackson, who would provide the deep threat they sorely lacked in 2018 after Mike Wallace broke his leg in Week 2 — against Tampa Bay. However, it’s to be determined whether they would be willing to trade for him or would be interested only if he is released."
According to Tim McManus of ESPN, Jackson has sold his home in Tampa Bay and is continuously requesting a trade. This wouldn’t be the first time as Jackson tried to push for a trade before the deadline midway through the 2018 season. The Bucs wouldn’t budge, and they kept Jackson around for the remainder of the year. Although the Buccaneers are in a different situation this year with a new head coach, Jackson still cannot be convinced to stay.
Whether Jackson gets traded or released, the Eagles could be legitimately interested in the 32-year-old deep threat. While they will be in the market for another veteran wideout in Free Agency, there’s a very good chance that the Eagles show a significant amount of interest in him. Maybe this time around Jackson won’t demand a price tag out of the Eagles range.
