Howard has experience within a committee

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy comes from the Andy Reid coaching tree. Eagles head coach Doug Pederson comes from the Andy Reid coaching tree. Both guys are offensive minds, and they run similar offenses. Therefore, they both rely on an RBBC style offense. While the Bears seem to favor Tarik Cohen on their offense, it appears as though Howard doesn’t produce as well as he once did.

During his rookie season without Cohen in the mix, Howard totaled for 1,313 yards, which ranked second in the entire NFL. The following year, he regressed because of the arrival of Cohen, but still managed to churn out 1,122 yards for himself.

In 2018, Chicago ranked just outside of the top ten in rushing yards-per-game with 121.1. The Eagles? They were 28th in total. Back in 2017 when the Bears were struggling as a whole, the Bears backfield with Howard and Cohen solidified themselves as one of the better backfield duo’s in the game. Unfortunately, the Bears don’t seem to value Howard all that much.

Hence the reason why they have him on the trade block right now. Not only has Howard succeeded by himself during his rookie year. But he’s also proven that he can be productive along with another receiving-type back on board. What more do the Eagles need to see here?
