Place the name Jon’Vea Johnson on your mind. He’s a name you may be hearing more often. He’s a wide receiver the Philadelphia Eagles need to start scouting.

Mark a few words here ladies and gentlemen. This time next week, there’s going to be plenty of talk surrounding future NFL wide receivers, and it’s going to become more and more difficult to discuss these potential stars without bringing up one in particular, Jon’Vea Johnson of the Toledo Rockets. Here’s a guy the Philadelphia Eagles want to take a serious look at.

March 19th made headlines because that was the day the mighty Alabama Crimson Tide held their Pro Day, but they weren’t the only game in town. One program who may not get the same national attention, the aforementioned Rockets held their Pro Day as well, and a very important name came out of that.

It belongs to that Johnson guy we were just discussing. On Tuesday, he scorched stopwatches with an amazing 40-yard dash time. Take a look:

As far as actual football talent goes, Johnson is a top-25 NFL prospect in the minds of most scouts, but he may begin to climb on draft boards. In 46 total collegiate games, he racked up 125 receptions, 2,265 yards and 25 touchdowns.

With Philly adding DeSean Jackson back to the mix and with the likes of Corey Clement and Mack Hollins returning from injury in 2019, can you imagine how potent an Eagles offense can be when you add a rare quarterback talent like Carson Wentz back to the huddle?

Everyone seems too have forgotten the former MVP candidate was coming off of a knee injury and played in 2018 with a broken bone in his back. With that being said, we can give him a pass for any missteps in his development. Well, can’t we?

We haven’t even brought up Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert, Nelson Agholor, and Alshon Jeffery. Some see Johnson as a mid-to-late-round prospect. If he’s available later in the draft and Philly wants to add a receiver, this may be the one they need.
