Alshon Jeffery tells ESPN reporter “I’ll see you in Miami”

“I’ll see you in Miami” was precisely what Alshon Jeffery had to say when discussing the Philadelphia Eagles upcoming season.

Who thought that Alshon Jeffery was feeling discouraged about his dropped pass in New Orleans last year that sent the Philadelphia Eagles packing? Did you believe that he lost all of his confidence? Well, think again. Alshon’s swagger is back, and he’s feeling extra confident about next year. Especially since the Eagles got another threat on offense in DeSean Jackson.

Just last week, the Eagles made a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to get back their former second-rounder, DeSean Jackson. The undersized, speedy wideout used to torch secondaries with the Birds, until the man they called Chip Kelly decided to turn the Eagles roster upside down back in 2014. And of course, he started doing so by cutting the team’s number one wideout in Jackson.

Seeing as though Jackson’s still got it, the Eagles wanted to bring him back once again. Without a speedy wide receiver stretching the field, the Eagles struggled in 2018. Although Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor were good for what they do, having a lack of speed testing the secondary really didn’t open up much for the offense.

Now with Jackson in the mix, the Eagles are a threat in all aspects of the passing game. They got a stellar slot receiver, along with an outside wideout who has a crazy catch radius, all while Jackson puts on the burners down the field. Not to mention, the combination of Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert at tight end could be lethal. The Eagles are in good shape, and Alshon himself believes that they are genuinely Super Bowl contenders once again. As he sat courtside at the Sixers game on Wednesday, Jeffery caught up with ESPN reporter Dianna Russini to talk about the recent trade for Jackson.

Is Alshon calling for the Super Bowl again?

“I’ll see you in Miami.” For those who are unaware, Miami will be the location for Super Bowl LIV in 2020. Now, we all saw that Jalen Mills got up on his high horse this past weekend and told a reporter that he was thinking about the Eagles getting back to the big game this season as well. And many people didn’t really want to hear that this early on. Honestly, though, Alshon’s words carry a bit more weight here. Just remember, back in 2016, Alshon uttered the words “we’re going to win the Super Bowl next year.”

Although Alshon was with the Chicago Bears when he made that statement, he made it very clear that he wasn’t talking about a specific team. Knowing that he was becoming a Free Agent in 2017, Alshon could’ve been talking about anybody. As a Free Agent, Jeffery entertained two teams the most. The Eagles, and the Minnesota Vikings. Clearly, we know the path that he took, and as you know, the Eagles indeed did win the Super Bowl that year. It’s crazy also to know that the Vikings were actually one game away from the big stage too. Then 38-7 happened.

That’s beside the point though. The point is, if Alshon is calling for the Super Bowl, then we better get to believing it. Many speculated that Alshon was one of the guys behind the hit piece that slammed Carson Wentz, so some would assume that he’s given up on the young franchise passer. However, many fans forget that Jeffery told Wentz back in 17′ that he was going to help him win MVP. Although Wentz didn’t accomplish that, he was very close to doing so. Maybe he has the same plans for 2019. Buckle up, because this season is going to be interesting.
