Would you ever think that a young prospect’s favorite player would be an offensive lineman for the Eagles?

The Philadelphia Eagles really do have the best center in football. With the NFL Draft coming up next month, many players are fielding questions from all over the place. “Where do you want to get drafted?” “Do you plan on starting right away?” Or our recent favorite “who’s your favorite player?” Recently, first-round NFL Draft prospect Quinnen Williams was asked who his favorite current NFL player is, and to everybody’s surprise, he chose Eagles’ center, Jason Kelce.

According to Pro Football Talk, Williams met with Chris Simms on his show titled ‘Unbuttoned.’ And out of curiosity, Simms asked the former Alabama defensive tackle who his favorite player in the NFL is. Typically when asked this question, a young player would name somebody who’s considered to be flashy. You know, the superstar type like Aaron Rodgers, or in his case, somebody like Aaron Donald who plays the same position. However, that wasn’t the case though.

Why is Kelce his favorite player?

"“My favorite football player is Jason Kelce, so going up against him is going to be crazy. I’ve looked up to him, I’ve watched everything he does,” Williams said. “He’s the real deal. I’ve gone against a lot of centers, and I watch Jason Kelce film, study him, learn his technique, learn the things he does, and then I can defeat other centers. . . . He’s my favorite player.”"

It’s quite rare when a young player names a center as his favorite player, but we definitely like it. Jason Kelce plays a position that doesn’t get too much credit. Being an offensive lineman is one of the most critical jobs in football, but the big guys don’t receive the same love like everybody else. However, Kelce has been getting a ton of recognition lately, which is absolutely well-deserved after the way he played these last two years.

Now, Williams is excited to play against Kelce. Although the Eagles are in need of a defensive tackle and could use Williams on their team, the first-round prospect is projected to go way before the Eagles pick this year. And since he knows that, he automatically assumes that he will cross paths with Kelce as an opponent one day. That’s one matchup we will for sure get to look forward to in 2019 or beyond.
