USA Today’s ‘DraftWire’ site put together a brand new four-round mock draft, which projects the Philadelphia Eagles first five picks for the 2019 NFL Draft.

Another day, another 2019 NFL Draft mock-up we get to sit read and analyze. As of late, the Philadelphia Eagles have been linked to a lot of the same picks. While a few in the past have projected the Eagles taking a running back, or a defensive lineman, a popular pick for them has been players that are in the secondary — precisely, the safety position.

However, just because the Eagles have a somewhat of a need for a safety, doesn’t mean that everybody is convinced that they are going to take one. Surprisingly, the Eagles have been linked to an overwhelming amount of cornerbacks during the scouting process, and it is quite shocking to hear. With a handful of young guys already on the roster, it doesn’t seem like the Eagles are in the market for a brand new cornerback. But the Draft community sees it otherwise.

Are the analysts coming up with these mock drafts completely wrong? Not exactly. Not only are the Eagles still entertaining a couple of rookie cornerbacks throughout the scouting process, but it does feel like some guys who are currently on board could be trade-able.

As we all know, nobody is untouchable in the NFL. So while it’s a widespread belief amongst the Eagles base that they won’t consider specific positions because they currently aren’t in need, or don’t lack depth, we have to consider the value at the time of the pick. So as we reviewed the newest mock draft from USA Today’s DraftWire, let’s breakdown their selections one-by-one.
