Brent Celek and Mike Quick will represent the Philadelphia Eagles at the 2019 NFL Draft in Nashville.

Ever since the 2017 NFL Draft, the second round of the yearly event has been quite interesting. Back in 17′ when the city of Philadelphia hosted the draft, a former enemy took the stage and went on a verbal rampage at the podium. As the Dallas Cowboys submitted their pick in, former Cowboys’ wide receiver Drew Pearson stood confident on stage and went full heal. Knowing that he was speaking to a ton of Philadelphia Eagles’ fans, Pearson put on a wild smack-talking promo before announcing Dallas’ second-round pick that year.

Philly booed him until he finally left the stage, and for a year the city wanted its revenge. Fortunately, the NFL Draft would be held in Dallas, Texas the following season. And like always, the NFL allowed for a former player of each organization announce their next pick. Former Eagles’ kicker David Akers was the chosen one, but the Eagles, unfortunately, did not have a second-rounder that season. Well, at least they didn’t until the Ravens came through with a trade.

We all know what happened – David Akers got his revenge for his former team and crushed his speech before announcing the Eagles’ selection of tight end, Dallas Goedert. This year, the Eagles already have a second-round pick available, so they don’t have to worry about trading for a selection in order to get one of their former players some stage time. However, they do have a guy scheduled to announce the third-round pick, but right now that doesn’t exist.

Will Celek get his time to speak?

Former Eagles’ legendary wide receiver Mike Quick will announce one of the Eagles two second-round picks. While their recently retired tight end Brent Celek is also set to make one of the announcements as well, there’s a chance that he won’t be able to. Thanks to the midseason trade for Golden Tate, the Eagles are left without a third-rounder.

Maybe, just maybe, the NFL will cut the Eagles some slack and give Celek the opportunity to announce the Eagles second, second-round pick, rather than not have him go up and announce one at all. After all, we haven’t got to see Celek do much for the Eagles since his retirement. It would be interesting to see his approach. We could expect some of that high-energy that he used to leave out on the field every Sunday. For now, we can only hope though.
