Jeffery Simmons, DT, Mississippi State

Round 1, Pick 25

Plenty of mock drafts going around the internet right now have the Eagles either taking a cornerback, running back or a safety with the 25th overall pick. Knowing the Eagles, they will take whoever the best player on their board is. And if it is a defensive lineman, you know they are thrilled. In this case, Jeffery Simmons, a player who is projected as early as a top-20 pick out of Mississippi State fell outside of his predicted range and landed with the Eagles.

Hailing from the same alma mater as Fletcher Cox, the Eagles could get some tremendous value with Simmons. Although the Eagles recently signed a Pro Bowl defensive tackle in Malik Jackson, Simmons brings some much-needed depth and enters into a situation where he will get valuable playing time, but not significant enough to rely on him entirely throughout the season.

The Eagles love the depth in the trenches when it comes to the defense. As they utilize a heavy rotation, Simmons would get some snaps on a weekly basis. Also, he would be learning from two seasoned veterans, who are Pro Bowl caliber players.
