Darren Sproles, RB

Once again, Darren Sproles remains on the Free Agency market for the second season in a row. Last year, Sproles was nursing an ACL injury with thoughts of retirement in his head. Once he realized the Eagles were prioritizing getting him back, Sproles decided that he would give it one more year. Again, Sproles struggled to stay healthy as he missed a large chunk of the season due to some strange hamstring complications. We were almost sure that 2018 would be Sproles final season as his body has been struggling to hold up, but not so fast.

Sproles may not be ready to call it quits just yet. As he hinted at retirement for the last few years, he’s also suggested another potential return in 2019. The longtime veteran isn’t on contract with the Eagles, but there has been some contact between both parties. Sproles has interest elsewhere, but if he returns it will most likely be with the Eagles.

Recently, the Eagles have made a move for Jordan Howard, but it’s been made clear that Howard isn’t the answer to all of their problems in the backfield. The Eagles are still in trade discussions for other running backs while hosting and entertaining some potential draft picks at the position as well. If the Eagles can’t get their next addition to the committee through trade or the draft, then we shouldn’t be surprised to see Sproles back next month.
