Around the NFL editor Gregg Rosenthal recently shared his thoughts on the Philadelphia Eagles’ playoff chances. You’ll like this if you’re a fan.

Here’s two things that can be backed up by any fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. One, after winning Super Bowl 52, experiencing playoff failure a year later didn’t sting as bad. Philly’s seen their share of playoff heartbreak, but it’s definitely easy to lose when you’ve already won one. Finally reaching football’s mountaintop actually made us feel like disappointment didn’t sting as bad when it came around this time.

Here’s the other thing we realized. You’re not going to win every year, but getting that first Lombardi Trophy definitely makes you want to go out and get another one.

The Eagles are retooled, reloaded, and they’ve got their eye on the hoisting the George Halas Trophy. Hopefully, it’ll come in another home win in the NFC Championship Game. That’ll propel them to the NFL‘s biggest game and another chance to win you know what.

Around the NFL editor Gregg Rosenthal thinks they’ve got a pretty good shot at making that happen. In a recent story on NFL.com, he listed the Los Angeles Rams, the New Orleans Saints, and the Eagles as his favorites to get to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida and play for the right to be called the kings of the NFL.

Here’s the argument for New Orleans:

"The Saints have the most trustworthy quarterback in this tier and a sneaky young roster built on the team’s boffo draft class of 2017. Getting over their second crushing playoff loss in as many seasons looks like a bigger task than any of the team’s offseason departures."

Okay, that was interesting. What did he have to say about L.A.? We’re glad you asked:

"The Rams have identified their core young players and done an enviable job locking many of them up long-term. That provides the backbone of the organization, with veteran pickups like Eric Weddle and Clay Matthews, as well as the one-year deal to keep Dante Fowler Jr. filling in the cracks. While some role players and coaches have departed, the key ingredients to Sean McVay going 24-8 the last two regular seasons all remain in place."

Finally, here’s the argument for Philly:

"There was a lot of concern in Philadelphia about the team’s lack of cap space entering February. Then general manager Howie Roseman found a way to bring in DeSean Jackson, Malik Jackson and Jordan Howard without losing that much. The strength on both the offensive and defensive lines combined with Carson Wentzbeing another year removed from ACL surgery should give the Eagles some margin for error, especially if their awful injury luck turns around."

Fair enough. We’ll take it.

Next. Carson Wentz was the NFC East’s best pocket passer in 2018. dark

Sure a lot has to happen before any of this goes down. We haven’t even reached the 2019 NFL Draft, and Philly has yet to announce a final roster. Still, predictions like these are the ones Eagles fans like hearing, even if they are way too early.
