The 2019 NFL Draft begins on Thursday. The Philadelphia Eagles are constructing their draft board. We’re naming the top ten safeties available.

It wasn’t too long ago that we were discussing whether or not the Philadelphia Eagles had the best safety tandem in all of the NFL with Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod. Both helped Philly to a Super Bowl victory in Super Bowl LII, but their journeys a year ago couldn’t be any more different. McLeod wound up on the IR. Jenkins played every single snap of the season. The 2019 NFL Draft begins on April 25th, and some are wondering if Philly goes with a safety.

How did we arrive here? We’re glad you asked.

Whenever there’s an injury like the one McLeod had to his MCL, the questions about how he might bounce back begin to arise. Corey Graham was re-signed on August 5th of 2018, partially due to the fact that Philly’s depth at safety. Last season, that consisted of corners who were versatile (Avonte Maddox, Rasul Douglas) and another young safety Tre Sullivan.

The latter may find himself in a battle for a roster spot once training camp begins.

Rounding out the Eagles depth chart is newly signed Andrew Sendejo and Deiondre’ Hall. The Eagles may not need a ton of bodies to bring in for competition, but if they add a safety over the course of the draft’s three days (or later as an undrafted free agent), no one should be surprised.

Here are the best ones in this class.
