The Philadelphia Eagles may want to look at getting younger along the defensive line’s interior, and the 2019 NFL Draft is as good a place as any to get it done.

It isn’t the deepest class we’ve seen for defensive tackles, but these aren’t a bunch of slouches either. The Philadelphia Eagles added Malik Jackson in the offseason to give one of the league’s best, Fletcher Cox, some assistance in the interior of Philly’s defensive line, but it’s becoming increasingly necessary for ‘The Birds’ to get younger at defensive tackle. The 2019 NFL Draft should allow them to do that.

Cox is a four-time Pro Bowl selection, and he’s, without question, the best defensive tackle in football, next to Aaron Donald. There’s just one thing. He signed a six-year, $103 million extension with the Eagles in 2016, and he turns 29 on December 13th. He’s also played a lot of snaps.

It would be nice to find someone talented enough to throw in Philly’s rotation, give both Jackson and Cox a break, and secure the Eagles future. This is a team that’s good, but they’d like to be relevant for the foreseeable future. They also don’t want to burn the tandem of Cox and Jackson out.

Let’s hope they draft a defensive tackle. Here are the best ones available.
