Lincoln Financial Field won’t be getting a surprise new name anytime soon.

This week, the Philadelphia Eagles left their fans anxious and excited as they planned on making an announcement soon regarding something to do with the community. While nobody knew what to expect, it turns out that their big announcement had something to do with the teams’ stadium, Lincoln Financial Field. On Thursday afternoon, the local media gathered on the field at the ‘The Linc’ as they waited for the big announcement from the teams’ owner, Jeffery Lurie.

It didn’t take long for Lurie to get to the podium and cut to the chase. Nobody knew what was going on, or what to expect. The only thing the Eagles said before the official announcement was that it was going to be a ‘community announcement.’ Many joked that the Eagles planned to announce an extension with the quarterback, Carson Wentz. As it turns out, the Eagles have agreed to an extension – except it wasn’t with the quarterback. Instead, it was with the Lincoln Financial Group. For the next 13 years, Lincoln Financial Field will keep its name.

The Linc remains The Linc

"“Lincoln Financial Group and the Philadelphia Eagles announced Thursday that they have agreed to extend the stadium naming rights for Lincoln Financial Field through the 2032 NFL season. The partnership, which began in 2002, is one of the longest naming rights relationships in the NFL. The state-of-the-art sports and entertainment facility, lovingly referred to as “The Linc” by fans, is the home of the Philadelphia Eagles. Since kicking off the 2003 season, the Eagles have hosted many memorable moments at Lincoln Financial Field including, the famous “4th-and-26” conversion, the Snow Bowl in 2013, three NFC Championship Games, and of course raising the Super Bowl LII Championship banner.”"

Nobody really expected a name change for the stadium to come up anytime soon, but at least we don’t have to worry about coming up with a new nickname for the Eagles’ home for over ten years. Until at least 2032, Lincoln Financial Field will remain the same in terms of the name. But we can expect some changes throughout the stadium as the Eagles are constantly trying to make ‘The Linc’ a better place for Philly fans.
