OTAs have begun and Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins is noticeably absent. As expected, everyone has an opinion.

With OTAs beginning for the Philadelphia Eagles at the Novacare Complex, a mix of rookies, young talent and veterans will make their way to Philly’s version of ‘The Batcave’ to, hopefully, begin constructing a Super Bowl-caliber roster and focus. There’s just one problem. Some of that veteran leadership is noticeably absent. There’s no Malcolm Jenkins.

Just like that, there’s a bit of a void in that veteran leadership the young guys will need to look to for an example of how to do things and how to be a professional.

Jenkins is a teacher and one of the leaders of this team, both on the field and in the locker room. Anyone who is a fan of this team has, no doubt, heard the mic’d up moments. They see the emotion on the field. They’ve probably had some fond memories of the days when another high-profile and well-loved safety patrolled the back end of the Eagles defense.

Fans, teammates, and coaches just don’t want Jenkins here. They need him here. Let’s not waste a ton of time. Here are three immediate reactions to his current absence from OTAs:
