Philadelphia Eagles’ second-round rookie running back Miles Sanders has yet to take the field at OTAs.

Week one is officially in the books at the Nova Care Complex as the Philadelphia Eagles wrapped up their first set of OTA sessions. As expected, they didn’t have a perfect attendance. Being that OTAs are voluntary, there are always going to be a handful of seasoned veterans who take an extended vacation. Plus, the Eagles still have a few guys who are currently recovering from their injuries, which took place last year.

Last season, injuries were the major downfall of the Eagles. They are hoping to get through the 2019 offseason as healthy as they can as they look to take on another season. Unfortunately, the Eagles just aren’t all that healthy yet, and even some of the new guys are dealing with some of the unluckiness of the Philadelphia sports world.

During the first set of sessions, there weren’t too many surprises. However, the one absence that did stand out was Eagles’ second-round draft pick, Miles Sanders. The rookie running back wasn’t entirely missing from practice as he was in attendance, but he was doing more standing on the sidelines rather than running drills. At first, the situation was confusing, but after day one the Eagles’ coaching staff revealed that Sanders is in fact, dealing with an injury.

What’s going on with Sanders’ injury?

What did Miles Sanders do to get injured? What exactly is his injury? Well, your guess is as good as ours. Ever since Eagles’ head coach Doug Pederson figured out he doesn’t have to be specific with injury details in the offseason, he refuses to go in depth. According to The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Zach Berman, Sanders has yet to take the field.

When asked about the injury and the severity of it, Pederson won’t specify much — or pretty much anything. Week two of OTAs kicks off on Tuesday, and Sanders’ status still seems to be up in the air. While the Eagles are excited to get to see their second-rounder in action surrounded by his veteran teammates for the first time, he isn’t quite ready to take the field yet.

Despite not knowing what’s going on with him, at least we’re fortunate to see that it’s nothing too serious. With Sanders current injury, that now makes three running backs that are currently dealing with injuries including Josh Adams, and Corey Clement. All others are available and trying to make their case for where they belong on the depth chart.
