The Philadelphia Eagles have worked all offseason to ensure they’ll have one of the league’s best offensive lines in 2019. Here are a few updates.

Additions from the draft and undrafted class, the re-signing of familiar faces, and a nice core group of guys we’ve known for a while are just some of the reasons that the Philadelphia Eagles and their fans are excited about what they’ve seen in relation to the offensive line. Prior to Super Bowl LII, the NFL Honors named them as the league’s best. Headed into 2019’s season, they could achieve similar acclaim.

Let’s take a quick look at three things that jump out at you.

1. This could be Jason Peters swan song.

By all accounts, it’s almost a foregone conclusion that the Eagles’ next Pro Hall of Fame inductee will be Jason Peters. If he isn’t voted in, there should be several recounts.

Every year, it seems like we talk about whether or not Peters will hang the cleats up at the end of the regular season. Each year, he returns. It would have been nice to call it a career after a Super Bowl coronation, but Peters missed much of that season after being placed on the team’s IR.

Every man wants to go out on his own terms, and we all can respect that. He’s still having fun, and he’s still effective. Maybe we should just enjoy this final ride with him, if, indeed, this is it.

2. Brandon Brooks is running guys.

Watching Brandon Brooks get carted off of the field during last season’s Divisional Round was very upsetting. It’s no fun to see anyone get hurt, but to hear about all of the things that this young man has battled through makes you cheer for him a little more loudly.

Then, everyone heard two of the ugliest words in the English language if you’re a football fan, ‘torn Achilles’. Here’s the good news. Rehab is going well. Signs point to a regular season return, and teammates, Jason Kelce for instance, have echoed that.

Recently, orthopedic surgeon David Chao and NBC Sports Philly’s John Clark shared a clip of Mr. Brooks running.

Take a look:

That’s definitely good news and good to see.

3. What in the world should be done with ‘Big V’?

With quite a few bodies to move around and the debate about who will make this team and who won’t, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson and the gang are making good on their promise to get guys crossed trained.

One idea has been to move Halapoulivaati Vaitai inside. Don’t look now, but ‘Big V’ has taken a few snaps with the first-team offense. He’s been slotted at guard though. Might he be an option if Brooks isn’t ready by the start of the regular season? Time will soon tell.
