Philadelphia Eagles: Joe Douglas will interview with the New York Jets
The Philadelphia Eagles may be losing one of their staffers soon as Joe Douglas is set to take an interview with the New York Jets.
Over the last couple of years, the Philadelphia Eagles found out what it is like to lose staff members after winning at the highest level. Well, it looks like they could be missing more as early as this year with an AFC teams latest move. When the New York Jets fired their General Manager a few weeks ago, many began to assume that Howie Roseman’s right-hand man would get a call.
As it turns out, nobody was wrong about that. Knowing how much buzz Joe Douglas has garnered inside and out of Philly over the last two years, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before he came out of Roseman’s shadow, and started his own journey in charge elsewhere. It was shocking to see Douglas stick around for this long, but soon his time with the Eagles might be up.
Douglas will officially interview with the New York Jets
According to Yahoo NFL Insider Charles Robinson, Douglas will, in fact, take a meeting with the Jets that is set to go down this upcoming weekend. While there was some buzz going around about other names around the league potentially being in the running for the job, Douglas becomes the first to get an actual interview.
This doesn’t precisely mean that Douglas is locked in for the position, but the rumblings around the league are made to believe that Howie’s No. 2 is gone.
Right now, the battle is between Douglas and the Seattle Seahawks co-director of player personnel Scott Fitterer, according to Pro Football Talk. But soon there could be more competition. This process might take a while, so Douglas’ time in Philly cannot be counted out just yet.
The Eagles are likely hoping that the Jets pass up on their guy, as they have blocked others from interviewing him in the past. However, there isn’t much they can do at this point except for wait and find out if the Jets are going to proceed with an official offer or not.
