Philadelphia Eagles’ rookie defensive end Shareef Miller is happy to be on his hometown team. And his family is undoubtedly grateful he’s not on the Cowboys.

A couple of months ago, the Philadelphia Eagles’ made a hometown kid dreams come true. With their fourth-round selection, they decided to draft Penn State defensive end, Shareef Miller. Although Miller has spent the last few years balling out closer to Pittsburgh, the Philadelphia native gets to come home and play for the same team he has rooted for all his life.

So when Miller got the call from Howie Roseman, he was obviously thrilled to know that he was going to be donning midnight green. However, that wasn’t the only thought on his family’s mind. Yes, they were thrilled that Miller was going to be a part of the Eagles. But they might’ve been even more excited knowing that they wouldn’t have to root for the Dallas Cowboys for the next four years or so. In this case, it’s a win-win for the Miller family.

Avoid Dallas at all costs

Shareef Miller has been at the Nova Care Complex getting his first taste of NFL football with the Eagles for the last few weeks. Recently, he stayed after his session for a quick interview with NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Marc Farzetta. When Miller was asked about what his family’s reaction would be if he got selected to a specific NFC East team in Dallas, he had a hard time trying to find a set of words to describe their potential reaction if that happened.

“My family probably would have been pissed,” Miller told Farzetta after shaking his head and thinking about it for a moment. “It probably would’ve been a struggle for them to get in a jersey with my name on it in Dallas because we didn’t like Dallas at all growing up.” Fortunately for the Miller family, that won’t have to happen. They can continue to root for their son and the Eagles while rooting against one of Philly’s biggest enemies.
