After much speculation and multiple meeting, the big Philadelphia Eagles rumors seem to be true. Joe Douglas could be the New York Jets newest GM.

For a while now, the Philadelphia Eagles have been under the impression that they are going to lose their Vice President of Player Personnel, Joe Douglas. Ever since his arrival with the Eagles after 2016 season, Douglas has had all eyes on him as he sat in the shadow of the man in charge of all football decisions in Philly, Howie Roseman. Before when teams tried to interview Joe Douglas for their vacant General Manager positions, the Eagles blocked it.

Nowadays, the Eagles couldn’t avoid it. Recently, the New York Jets decided to can the man in charge of their front office. For a moment, it seemed like they might give their new head coach Adam Gase a shot at making the calls, but they made it clear that he was only temporarily in charge of the teams’ moves. So the Jets made some calls and conducted a few interviews.

One of those interviews happened to be with Joe Douglas. It was expected, and the Douglas was more than ready to take on the battle for the role. This past weekend, Douglas met with the New York Jets on Saturday to have dinner. Then, on Sunday, he returned for an actual meeting regarding the position. Though Douglas wasn’t the only candidate in line, it sure sounds like he’s the favorite.

Joe Douglas on his way out soon?

According to CBS Sports Insider Jason La Canfora, the move is likely to happen later on this week. Apparently, Douglas and the Jets are discussing budgets and potential moves within the front office. While La Canfora’s report does come with an “if it doesn’t fall apart,” it is necessary to note that before and after the meetings went down, Douglas had the full support of Adam Gase for the position. Apparently, the new head coach was totally on board with him.

Despite being rumored to be in place for the job, Douglas has not neglected the Eagles just yet. With OTAs still taking place, Douglas has been present and out on the field in Philly. Though that could change very soon, no official announcement has been made by the Eagles, nor the Jets.
