DeMarcus Lawrence had interesting timing with one of his tweets moments after the Philadelphia Eagles extended Carson Wentz.

On Thursday night, the Philadelphia Eagles turned a slow news day into an exciting one. Around the afternoon time, the team was set to participate in their 10th and final OTAs session before mandatory minicamp kicks off next week. Instead, Eagles’ Head Coach Doug Pederson decided to cancel practice. It wasn’t for emergency purposes or anything — he just preferred the team would do something fun before the serious stuff goes down next week.

So rather than practicing, Doug Pederson booked a team bowling session in South Philly. That was the big news for Thursday until hours later. Once the Eagles got back to the Nova Care Complex, Jeffery Lurie and Howie Roseman kept Carson Wentz around to give him some papers to sign. As expected, the Eagles finally inked Carson Wentz to a brand new contract.

Obviously, Wentz got paid the big bucks. While his contract isn’t nearly as large as it was anticipated to be, the man got paid. So what happens when quarterbacks get paid? The internet goes crazy. Philly fans were excited, for the most part. The haters were out in full effect, and Wentz’s teammates were congratulating him. However, there was one NFL player in particular who decided to tweet out something interesting considering the timing.

DeMarcus Lawrence had something to say

Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence took to Twitter not too long after the news broke that Carson Wentz got a new deal. “The richer they get, the better it feels when we humble they a**.” Clearly, we know who Lawrence was sending verbal shots at. Wentz got paid, so now he’s eager to humble the money man by taking physical shots at him.

The funny thing about Lawrence’s tweet though is the simple fact that he’s not exactly a burden on Wentz when he’s under center. Since Wentz has been around, Lawrence doesn’t necessarily have the highest success rate against the Eagles. Sure, he’s one of the better pass rushers in the league and gets a ton of sacks, but against the Eagles, he has yet to notch a sack. As long as Lane Johnson is up front, the only guy who has been getting humbled is DeMarcus Lawrence.
