Don’t look now, but it looks like Zach Ertz has some pretty high praise for his Philadelphia Eagles teammates.

If you’re a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles or someone who covers this team, all you can ask for at the end of June is the knowledge that ‘The Birds’ have a chance to be pretty special. A nice draft class gave us hope. Picking up some nice undrafted rookies and seeing a great rookie minicamp furthered that, Now, with training camp approaching, Zach Ertz has something he’d like everyone to know.

’86’ not only believes the 2019 version of the Eagles is special. He thinks this team is even more talented than the 2017 version.

Let’s take a second and do a quick roll call. Philly’s franchise quarterback, Carson Wentz, is completely healthy. Remember when we were talking about the prospect of him wearing a knee brace for the rest of his career? Well, there’s been both a voluntary and a mandatory minicamp, and there was no knee brace to be found.

Let’s continue.

Two offseasons have passed since Philly made a wise decision and signed LeGarrette Blount. This time around, they added Jordan Howard. He’ll share the backfield, hopefully, with Corey Clement and Philly’s second-round draft selection, Miles Sanders.

On the outside, Wentz has the familiar faces of Nelson Agholor and Alshon Jeffery to throw the ball too, but he also will have something he’s never had before, DeSean Jackson.

Throw in what might be the deepest offensive line he’s ever had and two superstar tight ends, and that takes care of the offensive side of the ball.

On defense, opposing coaches and offensive coordinators will have to decide what to do about the likes of Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, Malik Jackson, Timmy Jernigan, and Derek Barnett to name a few. The second level and Nigel Bradham and Zach Brown have got their backs. The secondary and guys like Ronald Darby, Malcolm Jenkins, Avonte Maddox, and Sidney Jones will provide the last line of defense.

It looks good on paper, and if we’re comparing rosters, perhaps there’s no better expert on the talent pool than someone who’s been a part of both the 2017 and 2019 squads. It may not be time to book flights for Super Bowl LIV yet, but according to Ertz, ‘The Birds’ may have a shot to get there.

As a fan that’s all that you can ask for.
