Is Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson a top ten lineman in the NFL? He seems to believe so, but Sports Illustrated doesn’t seem to think that.

How many times is Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson going to have to tweet his frustrations this offseason? First, it started with a divisional rival, who was talking smack on Eagles’ quarterback Carson Wentz. When Dallas Cowboys defensive end mentioned he wanted to ‘humble’ Wentz after inking his new deal; Johnson wasted no time coming to his own defense.

Being that Johnson has prevented Lawrence from ever getting a sack against the Eagles, he wasn’t going to let the smack talking slide. So he jumped on Twitter to make it clear that he was pretty much circling the next two matchups against Dallas on his calendar for that reason.

Now, the whole season has become more critical for Johnson as he feels snubbed by the MMQB at Sports Illustrated. Recently, Andy Benoit and Gary Gramling discussed their top ten linemen in the NFL and to our surprise, Lane Johnson did not make the cut. Not only did he miss the list, but he didn’t even get a mention either. Obviously, Lane took notice.

Noted for the season

Although Lane Johnson doesn’t exactly need motivation from the MMQB to play well, the bulletin board material for the 2019 season is surely accepted. Hopefully, Johnson will help lead the Eagles offensive line to become one of the better units in the NFL once again since the talent is there. They will just need to stay healthy throughout the course of the season.

Speaking of the talent being there, one Eagles lineman did, in fact, make the top ten list. Their center Jason Kelce has emerged as one of the best in the game over the last couple of years. He peaked on the list at three, making him the top center in the eyes of SI. We should expect another big season from both, Johnson and Kelce in 2019.
