3. Cleveland Browns: Fletcher Cox, DT
In 2012, the Philadelphia Eagles were able to obtain Fletcher Cox with the 12th overall pick. In this re-draft, there was no possible way they were able to get him. Instead, the Eagles had to “settle” for Chicago Bears current defensive tackle, Akiem Hicks. While Hicks isn’t so bad, he’s no Fletcher Cox at the end of the day. And in this case, the Eagles are very fortunate.
In 2012, the Cleveland Browns were bad. That year, they took running back Trent Richardson with the third-overall pick. In this re-draft, they get Fletcher Cox. We all know just how dominate Cox truly is up front for the Eagles. If there was no Aaron Donald in the NFL, Cox would arguably be the best defensive lineman in the NFL, and potentially the best player.
Thankfully, none of the 12 teams in front of the Eagles knew that would be the case in 2012. The Eagles surely got lucky that nobody took Cox that year. Seeing as though he should’ve been a top three pick, the Eagles got some incredible value there as they drafted him a few spots outside of the top ten.
