Timmy Jernigan, Defensive tackle

Since we brought up Timmy Jernigan, let’s stay with him for a moment. We know what he is when he’s one-hundred percent, but we’re talking about back surgery that was a little over 14 months ago.

That’s rough if you aren’t playing football. Now imagine trying to throw 300-pound NFL linemen around. The Eagles feel as though he’ll be ready to assume his proper place among the better defensive tackles in the league though.

We’ll see if they’re right and if Jernigan can play his way into a long-term deal.

Halapoulivaati Vaitai, Tackle

‘Big V’ has seen the highs and lows over the course of his three NFL seasons. This is it. Now is the time to prove he belongs in Philly’s long-term roster plans. The pressure is on. You may have heard. ‘The Birds’ spent their most recent first-round selection on an offensive tackle.

Kamu Grugier-Hill, Linebacker

You’ll see a lot of Grugier-Hill in 2019. This isn’t an exact number, but he played about thirty percent of the defensive snaps in 2018. He’ll play a bigger role this season, but will he play his way into a big contract extension? That’s the million dollar question. A pun was definitely intended there.
