Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb finds himself voted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame.

There’s been some Hall of Fame talk surrounding former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb as of late. Roughly about a month ago, the former Eagles passer made a bold statement. When discussing his career, McNabb mentioned that his numbers are better than Troy Aikman’s. Therefore, McNabb believes he should be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Although McNabb’s case likely won’t move the needle and get him voted in, at least he gets a nice consolation prize from the city that raised him as a pro. On Wednesday morning, Donovan McNabb took to Twitter to announce that soon he will be getting inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame, becoming a part of their 2019 class.

The reaction from his Philadelphia fan base was mixed, obviously. As we know, McNabb hasn’t had the highest reputation with the Eagles fan base over the years — especially during this offseason. After the former great made some comments about the current state of the Eagles franchise and criticized Carson Wentz, the frustration with McNabb in the city of Philly grew even larger.

However, McNabb isn’t letting the recent past bother him. As he’s expected to inducted into the 2019 Philly Sports Hall of Fame class, McNabb did make it clear that he will be in Philadelphia for the ceremony, which will be held on November 7th at the Sugar House Casino.

Many may not like McNabb’s off-field personality, but you can’t disregard what he’s accomplished in an Eagles uniform. As he’s recognized as the franchise’s All-Time passing leader, his greatness within the franchise is undeniable. During McNabb’s 11 years in Philly, he accomplished a record of 92-49-1. He passed for 32,873 yards and tossed 216 touchdowns, to 100 interceptions.

During his stint, McNabb helped lead the Eagles to the playoffs on seven different occasions, getting them to the Super Bowl once. Unfortunately, his inability to win the big game was a cause for a lot of his criticism, but at this point, it’s nothing but the past. McNabb earned his spot in the Eagles Hall of Fame, and he earned his banner at the top of Lincoln Financial Field. Now, he will receive his place in the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame as well.
