3. Here’s the ‘Big V’ and Agholor factor and what we learned from AJayi

Though the rumors have quieted slightly, the possibility that Halapoulivaati Vaitai and Nelson Agholor might be traded haven’t gone away. Like Howard, both are in the final years of their deals. Both could help the Los Angeles Chargers‘ offense.

The Chargers don’t appear to be in a rush to hammer out a new deal  for Gordon, and seeing as how he’s signed through the 2019 season, there’s no reason to believe that they need to be in a rush to do so.

Now, that could mean several things. Gordon could take the Le’Veon Bell approach and sit out this season. He could play it out, but L.A. is in the same situation Philly was in a season ago.

Coming into 2018, Ajayi was at the end of his contract. Philly knew he was talented. He was also injury prone. Philly waited. Ajayi got hurt again. That forced Philly to make the decision that they weren’t going to keep Ajayi long term. Might the ‘Bolts’ be using a similar strategy in their thought process? Again, running back is the most punishing position in football.
