"Spadaro’s Take: “What is Sidney Jones? We’re going to find out, because Jones is squarely in the thick of an extremely interesting cornerback picture. The Eagles have a lot of promising young players at cornerback combined with incumbent veteran starters returning from injury (Ronald Darby, Jalen Mills) and, honestly, the entire depth chart at this position is going to be a fascinating battle to follow. Jones has to be at his best every day in Training Camp and then in the preseason games. He has a great challenge in front of him.”"

Two years ago, the Eagles gambled on a rookie cornerback out of Washington in Sidney Jones. Before his infamous pro day injury, Jones was a lock to be a Top-20 pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. After tearing his Achilles though, his stock dropped. Jones was available for the Eagles second-round pick that year, and they rolled the dice on him.

In actuality, last season was technically Jones’ rookie year. Unfortunately, another injury played a part in keeping him off the field by the middle of the season. Many don’t believe this, but Jones was actually doing a stellar job in the nickel before dealing with his nagging lower-body injury. There’s hope that he remains healthy, and gives the other CBs a run for their money this year. However, he has to earn a spot on the field in training camp.
